About This Spot

Stepping into Luzviminda Grocery and Restaurant feels like entering a warm, unhurried corner of Filipino culture nestled right in Fords, New Jersey. The blend of a grocery store with an earnest, no-frills dining spot creates an inviting rhythm—families picking up ingredients mingle with diners eagerly anticipating the comforting aromas coming from the kitchen. The space hums quietly with the steady pace of a neighborhood gem where familiar faces nod in recognition and newcomers settle in easily over shared tables and earnest conversation.

The atmosphere here is approachable and sincere, anchored by a sense of homegrown tradition rather than any rush or pretense. Whether you’re savoring the rich, smoky notes of pork and chicken BBQ skewers or diving into the layers of a hearty chicken afritada, each bite feels like a quiet celebration of Filipino flavors crafted with care. The option to select fresh seafood by the pound and pair it with your choice of sauce adds a personal, market-fresh touch, echoing the vibrant, communal spirit of Filipino cooking.

The menu unfolds like a culinary journey through familiar favorites and comforting staples. From crispy lumpiang shanghai to the tangy zest of tokwa't baboy, there’s a gentle balance between rustic dishes and the lighter, vegetable-forward options that remind you of home gardens and family meals. It’s the kind of place where the sweet chill of halo-halo dessert contrasts playfully with the bold, savory layers of pork sisig or the aromatic coconut hints in ginataang gulay.

The staff’s warmth enhances the experience, often taking time to guide diners through unfamiliar choices with quiet patience, making the entire visit feel less like a meal out and more like joining a table where stories and flavors intermingle. While the pace can occasionally feel like it’s catching up with demand, this only deepens the sense that you’re in a living, breathing space where food is meant to be savored without rush.

Luzviminda Grocery and Restaurant quietly holds a mirror to Filipino hospitality through a blend of genuine flavors, thoughtful service, and a setting that invites you to linger—whether you’re diving into familiar favorites or discovering new ones. It’s a place where every dish carries the steady heartbeat of tradition, and every visit offers a gentle reminder that food, above all, is about connection.

It's a restaurant with grocery store. The interesting thing for me was the choice of buying raw seafood by the pound and then choosing the sauce for the final dish. We chose 1 lb of shrimp with soy sauce lemon juice and something else. The dish was not very well developed and the shrimps were not cleaned. The oxtail curry with peanut sauce was very nice. The beef stew was good too. The desert, cassava pie, was exceptional.

Absolutely amazing Filipino food. Great food with fast service. Staff are very friendly and take the time to explain things to you. This was our first time here and will definitely be going back. The menu is broken down into favorites, breakfast, and seafood. We ordered from their favorites menu and there were still lots we wanted to try. We ordered the pork sisig, lachon, garlic rice, egg rolls, and breakfast meal with sausage and runny egg. Everything was so filled with flavor. The lachon was crispy and not too salty. The pork sisig was so packed with juicy flavor and paired so well with the rice. You must have rice with this as it is quite greasy. It is also quite heavy due to the glutinous cartilage but so worth it. The eggrolls came with this sweet dipping sauce and also quite tasty. Conveniently located off route 1 north in the same complex as Favorites. Plenty of parking but do go early or during an off hour as seating is quite limited. We arrived around 11:30 on a Saturday and around 12, it started to get very busy. There is also a small Filipino supermarket attached.

This was my first time trying Filipino food. I tried bbq chicken and pork skewers and were so tasty, the sauce was sweet and the meet was juicy and tender. I also tried the lumpiang shanghai, which reminded me of a combination of a mini spring roll (breading) and dumpling (meat inside). It was extremely delicious and a nice snack to munch on with my skewers. I ordered my meal online, so next time I will go into the restaurant and dine in.

Ordered palabok, chicken sinigang, tofu with black bean sauce, pork longanisa, pork bbq sticks, grilled lechon, and pork adobo. Everything tasted great and was freshly made! Hope they can hire an extra staff member or two to help take orders from customers and clean the tables so more people can enjoy the food Another good flavorful option is their bistek

It's my 3rd time ordering take out from here and its my first ever bad experience. Not with the food but with the service, the 1st two times I was there it's always been nice but this time it wasn't. I ordered food for pick up, I get there and this short Filipina Aunty with glasses at the register did not greet me, no hello or anything. Just side eyes me, enters in my order and then finally asks if I am paying with card. I paid with card, no thank you or anything just a slight gesture towards the bag. I drove home and brushed it off but come to find out we are missing our leche flan. I tried calling at 6:55pm but they close at 7pm so I'm assuming they ignore calls. For a Filipino owned restaurant, you would assume the customer service is superb and top notch but no, it doesn't seem to be all the time. I love Filipino food and Filipino people, I married into a Filipino family and I love the culture. But for someone to just not greet me or anything at all as a customer and then come to find out missing a $9 leche flan is unacceptable. Update - Rommel reached out to me to clarify the issue and has even offered to make my next order free of charge. Amazing customer service and very responsive! Thank you Rommel!

This is one of my favorite Filipino restaurant. I go at least two times out of the week. It reminds me of my wife cooking when I'm home in the Phillipines. I would choose my wife cooking over Luzviminda. This is really a good spot if you're looking for good Filipino food.

Good: lumpia, pork sig sig, leche flan Ok: oxtail kare kare, porkbelly in sauce (binakdongan?) Food was solid but nothing stood out. Nothing is served with rice and I feel like it would have improved it greatly. The pork sig sig is meat only which makes it very collagenous and rich. The porkbelly in sauce I'm not 100% sure which item it was and came recommended by the staff. The sauce had lime which was lovely but the porkbelly was a little overcooked and dry and it had very overcooked pieces of liver in it (I wouldn't have minded the liver taste if it wasn't so overcooked and dry) I forgot a picture of the leche flan but it was very firm but creamy and not curdled so props to them. The caramel sauce has what I felt was a orange/citrus flavor which we enjoyed Lumpia was good but not as amazing as I had hoped and know it can be.

Luzviminda has become one of our go-to spots for takeout, and it consistently delivers. Their food passes my mom’s test for good Filipino cooking — and she’s Cebuano, so that’s saying something. The flavors are authentic, comforting, and remind us of home. The staff is always pleasant and respectful, which makes every visit feel welcoming. As for the food, their lechon is some of the best I’ve had anywhere: crispy, flavorful, and perfectly seasoned. The grilled pork belly is another must-order — especially when you pair it with vinegar the way it’s meant to be eaten. We keep coming back for a reason, and I’d absolutely recommend Luzviminda to anyone looking for truly solid Filipino food in the area.
